Welcome
to my Poetry Page
Below
are some poems authored by me:
Sherri
Lynn Charland
This
first poem, Nikki, was written for my sister, Nikki, after she was
diagnosed with cancer of the spinal cord, during chemotherapy and radiation, but
before she past away. At this time I was the ripe old age of 25.
The
second, A Message From Beyond, was written after watching a
television show called "Crossing Over with John Edward". John
Edward is a psychic that communicates with people who have crossed over.
The
third, My Dearest Best Friend, was written on November 18, 2005
for my angel dog chihuahua, Tico, who weighs in at only 5 pounds ( 4 1/2 pounds of pure heart).
The
fourth, Do You Love Me, was written on December 2, 2005 for my husband on
our anniversary ~ December 3rd.
The
fifth, My Big Sister, was written on August 13, 2006 for one of my
big sisters; Teresa.
Then
are a few more poems that are written by someone else, I just happen to love
them.

How can I be
so weak when it's you that hurts so much, You're sweet and you're kind ~
Soft to the touch.
I don't know
how to tell you that I'm hurting for you so, I wish that I could say one
word and make the cancer go.
You really
mean a lot to me ~ Of course you always will, You have to be the kindest
person to receive such a rough deal.
Let me tell
you, "Sis", that I'll always be there for you, so please take
advantage and call me when you're blue.
*
Dedicated to Nikki with love and kisses ~
from you're Baby Sister.

A Message From Beyond
After I am
no longer in your physical world ~
Please don't
tell me good-bye, for my message to you is:
Move on, Be
happy, Live your life, Learn all that is meant to be learned.
Then when
you cross over ~ You will know that I've been with you all
along .......
...... I never left you.

My Best Dearest
Friend
How do I put
into words this special bond that only we two share.
The first
day of our life together, on the drive home from the "Pet Center
" where I adopted you ~ I looked over at you. You were shivering;
obviously apprehensive even a little frightened, yet possibly relieved
to be out of the cold and lonely confinement of the "Dog
Pound", I just smiled at you and said, "Damn, I sure hope you
grow on me!"
Now a little
over ten years later ~ I see you and wonder 'What will I do when the day
comes that I won't have you for my trusty companion ~ Please
know that even the times I act like you were a pest ... I adore you and
that my love for you is every bit as unconditional as your love for me.
I thank you for your unyielding devotion. Know that no other could ever
take your place in my heart.
Through the
years you have showed me a lot about love and loyalty. I am truly
grateful to have you, Tico, for my dearest best friend.
Without a
doubt ~ You grew on me!

Do
You Love Me
Do
you love me or do you not, You told me once but I forgot.
It
seems to me that God above, created you for me to love.
Our
true love that was sent from heaven, Six years together now going on
seven.
I
love you more now than last year on this day, Our love has blossomed
into a spiritual bouquet.
All
though some have tried to pull us apart, You still hold a special place
in my heart.
Hard
times we've managed to some how get through, Blissful joy for us is long
over due.
So
do you love me, do you Dear, If you do then hold me near.
Since
I've loved you right from the start, I'll be yours forever ~ So never
shall we part.

My
Big Sister
My
big sister is a friend of mine,
She
loves me through and through;
So
when I feel the need to talk,
I
call her when I'm blue.
She
always has a laugh to share,
With
a certain twinkle in her eyes;
Of
all the sisters of the world,
My
sister deserves a prize.
Even
when I'm a pain in the butt,
Somehow
she's still there for me;
I
love my big sister,
Wonderful
and special, a true friend of mine is she.

The next three poems are
are written by some one else; they just happen to be among my favorites.

My Quilt
My neighbor
is washing her windows, and scrubbing & mopping her floors, But my
house is all topsy - turvy, and dust is behind all the doors.
My neighbor,
she keeps her house spotless and she goes all day at a trot. But no one
would know in a fortnight if she swept today or not.
The task I
am at is enticing ... My neighbor is worn to a rag. I am making a quilt
out of pieces I have saved in a pretty chinz bag.
And the
quilt, I know my descendants will exhibit with prideful heart ....
"So lovely, my grandmother made it. An example of patience and
art."
But will her
grandchildren remember her struggles with dirt and decay ? They
will not ~ They will wish she had made them a quilt like I'm
making today.

A Dog's Prayer
Treat me
kindly, my beloved master for no heart in the world is more grateful for
kindness than the loving heart of me. ~ Do not break my
spirit with a stick, for though I lick your hand between blows, your
patience and understanding will more quickly teach me the things you
would have me do. ~ Speak to me often, for your voice is the
world's sweetest music, as you must know by the fierce wagging of my
tail when your footsteps fall upon my ear. ~ When it is cold
and wet, please take me inside, for I am now a domesticated animal, no
longer used to bitter elements. ~ And I ask no greater glory
than the privilege of sitting at your feet beside the hearth ~ Though
had you no home, I would rather follow you through ice and snow than
rest upon the softest pillow in the warmest home in all the land, for
you are my God, and I am your devoted worshiper. ~ Keep my
pan filled with fresh water, for although I should not reproach you were
it dry, I cannot tell you when I suffer thirst. ~ Feed me
clean food, that I may well, to romp and play and do your bidding, to
walk by your side, and stand ready, willing and able to protect you with
my life should your life be in danger. ~ And, beloved
master, should the Great Master see fit to deprive me of my health or
sight, do not turn me away from you. ~ Rather hold me gently
in your arms as skilled hands grant me the merciful boon of eternal rest
..... And I will leave you knowing with the last breath I drew, my fate
was ever safest in your hands.

| Resume
Razors
pain you;
Rivers
are damp;
Acids
stain you;
And drugs
cause cramp.
Guns
aren't lawful;
Nooses
give;
Gas
smells awful;
You might
as well live.
